I’ve lived in Robinson Township for almost 27 years, and people sometimes ask me why I’ve stayed so long.
The answer is pretty simple: Robinson Township just works for me.
It gives me the space and suburban setting I prefer. It also keeps me close to many of the places I need to get to regularly. For me, it has always felt like the best of both worlds.
Location Is One of Robinson Township’s Biggest Advantages
One of the things I appreciate most about living in Robinson Township is how easy it is to get around.
I can get to places like Costco, Sam’s Club, Aldi, Target and IKEA without going far. Pittsburgh International Airport is nearby, Downtown Pittsburgh is an easy drive under normal traffic conditions, and access to major highways makes it convenient to travel throughout the Pittsburgh area.
That convenience matters to me.
No, I can’t walk out my front door and stroll to the grocery store or Dairy Queen. Robinson Township isn’t that kind of community. But I’m perfectly happy trading walkability for a little more room while still being close to the things I use most.
Living Close to Pittsburgh Without Living in the City
Some people love city living. They want to walk to restaurants, shops and entertainment, and Pittsburgh has neighborhoods that offer exactly that.
That has never been what I personally wanted.
I like having a little more space. Being outside the city while still being able to get Downtown when I need to gives me the balance I want. Having the airport, shopping, restaurants and major roadways nearby makes it even more convenient.
That balance is a big reason Robinson Township has remained home for me for nearly three decades.
What Is Robinson Township Like?
Robinson Township is located west of Downtown Pittsburgh in Allegheny County and is part of the Montour School District.
The area offers a mix of established neighborhoods, newer housing developments, townhomes and other residential options. You’ll also find a significant amount of shopping, dining and commercial development throughout the Robinson area.
Like any community, though, Robinson Township won’t be the right fit for everyone.
And that’s important.
There Is No One “Best” Place to Live in Pittsburgh
When someone is relocating to Pittsburgh, I’m often asked some version of:
“What’s the best neighborhood in Pittsburgh?”
There really isn’t one answer.
Someone who wants a walkable city neighborhood may have completely different priorities from someone who wants more land, a shorter trip to the airport, a particular type of home or easier access to a certain part of the Pittsburgh region.
The goal isn’t to find the place everyone else says is best.
It’s to find the place that works best for you.
Robinson Township has worked for me for almost 27 years. Your perfect fit may be Robinson, or it may be somewhere completely different.
That’s one of the great things about the Greater Pittsburgh area. There are a lot of different communities and lifestyles to choose from.
