hOME bUYING pROCESS: tOURING (iN DEPTH) » Diane McConaghy Team

While attending an open house is a great way to spend your weekends, we always recommend that you schedule a private tour with us instead.  Keep in mind that during an open house, you aren’t able to talk freely about your likes and dislikes because there are typically other buyers and agents touring at the same time.  Parking is usually limited and there is often a line outside with guests waiting to get in.

We work behind the scenes for you even before you begin touring to make sure that the home is vacant and you have a dedicated appointment time.   We also make sure that we map out the most convenient route when touring multiple homes so that we are not travelling through the same neighborhood twice or going to two different ends of town just to come back again to tour another house on your list.

We will also make sure to read all of the agent specific notes on the listings to make sure that we are well informed of any issues or specific instructions about the houses that we will be touring.

As your Realtor, it’s our job to make sure that we can get you into the homes as soon as they are available to tour.  Sometimes this is the day that they are listed as Active on the West Penn Multi-List and other times it may be a day later, a week later, or even up to a month later.  This is another reason why it is great to work with a full-time Realtor, so that we work around your schedule.

We recommend that you don’t tour more than four houses in a day because you will literally forget from one house to the next, those attributes that you liked best or worst about each house.

We also recommend that if you see something, even if it is when you pull into the driveway, that you don’t like about the home and it’s something that you can’t live with, then, it’s time to move on to the next.  No sense in wasting your time or our time by touring a home that you really don’t like.
On the day of the tour, we simply meet you at the house at the scheduled appointment time – and don’t forget, be on time so that we can spend as much time as possible at the house before the next buyer arrives for their appointment.

We will take you through the entire home to make sure that you see all the attributes that are most important to you.  We will discuss your likes and dislikes after each tour.  We will also suggest that you imagine your belongings in the home which is typically a good barometer for whether or not that particular home is your dream home.

Most importantly, we will never pressure you into making a decision that you may not be ready or willing to make.  We are here to serve you and help you in your quest for Moving Right Along.
