McDonald is a borough in Allegheny and Washington counties in the state of Pennsylvania, 18 miles southwest of Pittsburgh. In the past, factories, oil-well drilling, flour-mill products, etc., existed here. Oil and coal were and still are procured in the area.

McDonald Attractions

This rural area is home to many farms, trail heads, and hometown spirit. McDonald has a selection of local county parks and great places to be outside for you and the children.

The Panhandle Trail is 26 miles worth of paved pathway for walking, running, or biking along a former railroad track. The Montour Trail technically extends a full 36 miles across the two counties. It is an unpaved trail of crushed limestone that is a favorite for hikers and bikers alike, with campgrounds to accommodate cyclists in for the long haul.

Geary Farm is a family-run establishment just north of McDonald, off Robinson Highway. They’re the perfect place to visit for photo ops, festivals, or a family outing.

Urban Assault Paintball offers over 30 acres and 6 fields of paintball friendly competition.

Heritage Park is home to McDonald’s Youth Baseball and Softball leagues. Catch a ball game, picnic on the grass, or rent out one of the pavilions for special events. There’s even a playground. Every year, Heritage Park is home to McDonald’s 4th of July fireworks display. Grab an ice cream from M.A.’s, just one block away, and enjoy the show!

Enjoy a quick round of golf at the two public golf courses. Fort Cherry Golf Course and Quick Silver Golf Course. Quick Silver is just minutes away, tucked among the rolling hills of Midway. Quick Silver has been host to the Senior PGA Tour and Ben Hogan Tours.

McDonald has a few restaurants to choose from, including Hart’s Restaurant & Lounge, Michael’s Tavern, Harrington’s, Valentour’s, China Dragon and even a Subway. If pizza is your jam, you can’t go wrong with Gianni’s Pizza, Jay’s Pizza Shop or Pizza Capri.
