Green Tree is located minutes away from the Fort Pitt Tunnel, leading you right into Downtown Pittsburgh.

Green Tree is a borough in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and a Southwest suburb of Pittsburgh

The borough spells the name “Green Tree” as two words, but it is pronounced as one word, and the main street of the borough is still spelled “Greentree Road.”

The most distinctive feature of Green Tree is its enormous water tower.  It is a favorite visual landmark for small-plane pilots and visible from miles away on the ground, depending on where you may happen to be.

Green Tree is only a little over two square miles. Like many Pittsburgh boroughs, Green Tree has six borders, five with Pittsburgh neighborhoods: Oakwood, Westwood, Ridgemont, Banksville, East Carnegie, and outside of the City, Scott Township.

Depending on your location, children will either attend Keystone Oaks or Pittsburgh City Schools.  However, Green Tree also provides several private school options.  Guardian Angel Academy, Bishop Canevin High School and Seton Lasalle High School.

Green Tree attractions

Green Tree offers 7 parks, a Nature Center,  and a Farmer’s Market from May through October, popular among the locals.  Green Tree also has a Municipal Center Gymnasium, home to a Winter Rec Program and can be rented for other activities throughout the year.

Situated so close to the City of Pittsburgh, Green Tree offers five reasonably priced hotels.

Scoglio’s and Vincent’s are two popular restaurants in the area, but Green Tree offers plenty of options from fast food to fine dining.

Whether you decide to take part in community activities or take a short trip over to the city, you will always have something to do in Green Tree!

Green Tree Real Estate

You’ll find a wide variety style of homes right outside of the city including  Single Family, Townhouses, and Condos. You won’t find a lot of rentals as most residents own their own home. You can expect to find anywhere from 15 – 30 homes for sale at any given time throughout the year.  Since there is such a wide variety of homes, home prices can range from $75,000 to over $500,000 for the new builds in Scott Township (in 2022).
